November Captain ... MATT BOURNES

What were you doing at 18? I know what I was not ... being on a leadership team at church. It always amazes me how our youth just step up and serve. Matt has been a great energy to the team and it is great to get to know and grow with him more. YOU ROCK MATT aka Pablo. (Ask him about that... He would LOVE to tell you the story on how he became known as Pablo)

1) Birthdate: April 23 1989

2) Favorite Color: blue

3) What brought you to Flamingo Road Church?
I was searching for something I did not find until my sophomore year. What I found was a relationship with the all powerful Jesus Christ.

4) If you could go anywhere on vacation where would it be? Why?
I would love to go to brazil to see my family. I would also love to go to Europe because I love culture and the art there is fantastic.

5) Favorite Childhood Memory?
I dont have many but I loved when my family visited from brazil and stayed with us for about three months.

6) What made you decide to be a part of the preschool ministry?
There are many reasons but the main reason is that I just love kids. They are so pure and they are God gift to us.

Christmas Service Times

OK I know you've been anxious to know how many Christmas services Cooper City will be having this year. For those of you who guessed 9, you're wrong :) It's actually 11!! Which means 11 services with opportunities to serve and 11 services where people will be challanged to Accept Christ for the first time. Each time I think about that I get goosebumps. Christmas is one of those holidays we HAVE TO leverage. We celebrate the greatest gift God could give, Jesus. For some reason people feel more convicted to go to a Christmas or Easter service than any other. So invite your friends and while you're at it invite your enemies, be the salt and light for your world.

Here are the dates and times...
Dec 20 - 7pm Dec 22 - 5pm and 6:30pm
Dec 23 - 9:30am, 11am, 12:30pm, and 5pm Spanish Service - 2:15pm
Dec 24 - 3:30pm, 5pm, and 6:30pm

Allright there they are, we will have the serving sign up sheets this weekend so we encourage you to sign up. Make it a family affair and have your family (husband and kids) serve one service. Let's get ready to reach the masses this Christmas !!

Being a Servant Leader

In John 2:1-11, Scripture tells about a time Jesus attended a wedding feast where the hosts ran out of wine before they ran out of guests. From this story and others from Jesus' life, we find what it means to be a servant leader.

Servant leaders serve at all times.
Even as an honored guest, Jesus was “on call” to serve the people around him. Jesus didn’t come to the wedding expecting to serve. But he still served.

Servant leaders know their resources.
When the need arose for more wine at the wedding, Jesus looked around and discovered six stone jars. A servant leader never has excuses for why something can’t be done. A servant leader is a problem-solver who looks for ways to use old resources or discovers new ways to meet a need.

Servant leaders serve with excellence.
When the banquet master at the wedding feast drank the wine that Jesus had produced, he said it was the best! There’s no such thing as “good enough” with a servant leader. This kind of leader is always striving to do his or her very best.

Servant leaders serve thankfully, not grudgingly.
John 6:11 tells us that Jesus took the loaves and gave thanks. He didn’t grab them, sigh heavily, and begin breaking them impatiently. He graciously paused to give thanks to his father. When you serve thankfully, as Jesus did, your volunteers and your ministry will be blessed in abundance.

May we keep his example before us as we celebrate Thanksgiving and expand our ministry here at Treasure Island.

Happy Gobble Gobble !!!

"Thanks be to God for His indescrible gift" 2 Corinthians 9:15

God gave us the GREATEST gift of all, His Son Jesus who by
His blood freed us from the bondage of our sin. This Thanksgiving week let's focus and give God the glory and praise He deserves. So Captains, Crew Members, stop and think... What are you thankful for?

I'll let you in on mine...I lived in such darkness never knowing there was a God who loved and a Savior that died for me. Then 3 years ago on Thanksgiving day I woke up and something inside of me was different. I called out to whomever, whatever could hear me and asked to please help me ... and HE did. Later that spring I was led to Flamingo Road by a friend and in June 2005 I accepted Christ into my heart forever changing my life and those whose lives were going on around me. That moment of clarity and 2nd chance that God graced me with 3 years ago is the thing I am most grateful about. It's like Troy said this weekend that one decision 3 years ago has impacted me and the people around me more than I ever could've imagined at that moment.

SO tell me yours what are you most grateful for... Can't wait to hear yours!!
Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for ALL YOU DO here at Treasure Island Preschool. WE LOVE YOU.
